Tasting Notes

 The Delaforce LBV is a Port of deep ruby colour, showing great complexity with intense aromas of plums, fresh berries and liquorice with hints of cistus and mint. It presents a beautiful structure, with its complex fruit flavours reappearing on the palate combining elegantly with its lively tannins in a perfectly balanced structure.

Store bottles in a cool, dry place, away from direct light (16ºC). Serve at 16ºC..This Late Bottled Vintage Port can be enjoyed while young, yet it has potential to age in bottle. An ideal partner for Blue Cheese or dark chocolate desserts.

The Year 2018

The year 2018 was essentially characterized by a significantly atypical climate, having this been an extremely hot and dry year all round. Sprouting occurred prematurely, followed by a big advance in the vegetative cycle up until the harvest, due to a continuous evolution in climate conditions. The long absence of precipitation alongside very high temperatures caused meaningful hydric and thermal stress, resulting in one of the earliest harvest campaigns in Douro history, beginning in mid August with a three-week advance in comparison to usual timings. Nevertheless, 2017 was a great year in terms of quality, producing classic Reds and remarkable Ports.

Delaforce

 The Delaforce family can trace their history back over 400 years. Their involvement in the Port business dates back to 1834, when John Fleurriet Delaforce first came to Oporto. In 1868, George Henry Delaforce founded his own firm, the House of Delaforce.

Over the years, Delaforce has developed a reputation for its outstanding blending and ageing skills, which express themselves in the company’s renowned Ports.

Today, Delaforce is owned and run by Real Companhia Velha, an independent family Company controlled by the Silva Reis family. Almost every Port style is represented in the Delaforce range and are sold throughout the world. Its distinguished portfolio of products continues to earn the company its recognition as masters of the Port blend.

Port & The Late Bottled Vintage

 Port Wine is, by definition, a generous and fortified wine produced in the Douro Region- the oldest Demarcated Wine Region in the world. Produced from tradition indigenous varieties, its method of vinification is characterized by the addition of wine brandy to the must causing an interruption in fermentation. This process preserves all natural sugars in the wine and allows the development of a licorous texture

Although made from one specific Vintage, as shown on the label, LBV’s (on the contrary to Vintage Ports) are bottled between the fourth and sixth year of ageing. This longer ageing period ensures a smoother and rounder palate, making this wine enjoyable for immediate consume.
