Royal Oporto Colheita 2013 DOC Douro 

Tasting Notes:

A Porto of beautiful amber tones with a very complex and elegant nose combining rich citric and floral notes with a delicate hints of nuts, honey and dry red berries. It is smooth and mellow on the palate, with a very harmonious texture, finishing very long and persistent.

Store bottles standing up, in a cool dry place (16ºC) and away from any direct light. Serve at 16ºC. Enjoy this Port on its own for full splendor, although pairs nicely with orange cake.

Port Wine & Real Companhia Velha

 Port Wine is, by definition, a generous and fortified wine produced in the Douro Region- the oldest Demarcated Wine Region in the world. Produced from tradition indigenous varieties, its method of vinification is characterized by the addition of wine brandy to the must causing an interruption in fermentation. This process preserves all natural sugars in the wine and allows the development of a licorous texture.

 Real Companhia Velha was founded by D. José I, King of Portugal in 1756, with the aim of monitoring Port production, as well as having a good share in its production and exports. Since 1960, Real Companhia Velha has been owned and run by the Silva Reis family, who have dedicated their efforts to the production of both Port and Douro wines, focusing on the understanding and development of the Douro terroir. The Company is owner of 5 Quintas in the Douro Valley, Quinta das Carvalhas, Quinta de Cidrô, Quinta dos Aciprestes, Quinta do Casal da Granja and Quinta do Síbio; in a total of 557 ha of vineyard.

 Colheita Ports are a very specific style of dated wines which result of a rigorous selection of the best grapes from the year inscripted on the label. These wines are submitted to a minimum ageing period of 7 years in selected old oak casks in the silence of our cellars, where they acquire a genuine and distinct bouquet of intense and complex aromas and a fine, velvety palate.

 Royal Oporto is the flagship brand for the Company on the international stage. Serving as symbolic translation for - Real Companhia Velha - from the old days, it

brands Ports of a unique kind, made from grapes grown at the Quintas owned by the Company, focusing mostly on aged Tawnies. While still holding Ports dating back to 1867 at our cellars, we consider these wines to be some of the Company’s finest treasures.
